Book review

The Lemmon Orchard, written by Alex La Guma si a story which was written in 1962. The story takes place si South Africa erre discrimination was an important problem.
 The story is about a coloured man, who is a teacher, that is captured by five white men because he had an argument with the church minister who is a very important figure for white people. All this caused a very big problem for the teacher because he is a coloured man.
 As it is porttayed in the story, during this period, the coloured people were discriminated only for their skin color by the white men that the author shows as arrogant, cruel and they hate the blacks so they use their power to bully the black people, make them feel fear of the white. And the coloured man is different. He is a school teacher, well educated person who has been cheeky to the minister church. Moreover, this problem is reflected with the symbol of the dark nitght that represented the unjustice at that moment.
 In my opinion, the story was not written in an interesting way because instead of showing action it had many boring things. However, I should say that the story represented that period in an excellent way with the symbols and metaphors, so I would definitely recommend reading this story because it show perfectly well what happened in that time.
