Comparing poems

In the class of literature we read “Stormcock in Elder” and after that we do an activity. We had to compared this poem with another we just read it. This work I do it with Zoe Gregorutti and Renata Villar and together we choosed to compared “The buck in the snow”. Hope you like it!

For starters, both poems show appreciation for nature's acts; There's a voice of a certain narrator, who is observing and enjoying the animal's actions. In Stormcock in Elder referring to the bird, and in A Buck in the snow, meaning the buck.
What is contrasting about how this idea is shown in both poems is that, In A Buck in the Snow, the death of the buck is a sudden and unexpected turn, that doesn’t happen in the other poem. In addition, what both narrators have in common is that they appear to feel represented in some sort of way with the animals in cuestion.
As it was already mentioned, we get the impression that they are appreciating the beauty of nature, and feeling full of admiration. We also get the impression that the narrator in Stormcock in Elder gets kind of “saved” by the bird outside their house, since they are shown in a gloomy and sort of depressing state, that’s then contrasted when seeing the bird sing its sweet melodies, feeling the narrator with hope and positive feelings.
To summarize our ideas, these two poems deal with nature’s charms and the effect they can have on people, such as these two narrators. It shows how, us humans, have vulnerability when it comes to nature and the admiration of such beauty.
